This site has existed for nearly 20 years and with over 3,000 remakes it is a piece of scene history in its own right and needs preservation.
Insofar as hosting, apart from one previous year (a long time ago) I have been lucky to be comfortable with the hosting costs and domain costs and actually, this site is hosted on the same plan as DBF so that really isn't the issue at hand.
The real thing I can see being a problem is that this site is very much written in PHP 5.X and we're now on PHP 8.0 and in fact many of the PHP instructions used in the portal code have been deleted from the language completely.
Updating the PHP version here causes the site to instantly fail so to manage expectations;
1: I don't see the point of a lift and shift to another host just to have this stored somewhere unless the portal is updated to PHP 8.0 (don't underestimate this work).
2: I've always regarded this as Stormbringer's project and site so I absolutely need to have a conversation with him on this personally.
We're all busy, I have been trying to contact Stormbringer unsuccessfully so hopefully if you see this mate, please reach out to me.
As long as Stormbringer is happy to hand the site over (and confirms this in person to me) and if the handover contains a commitment to update the portal to PHP 8.0 then I'll be happy to hand it over so it can be around for at least another 20 years and maybe have 6,000 remakes by then!!

There have been a number of problems with this site, firstly, it was targeted by spambots and RBZ cleaned up many spam posts on this BBS and in the production pages.
He also made a change to the registration process, if you register for Retro-Remakes you will not be able to post anything until an admin unlocks your account. This is the only way we can protect the pages from these spam posts.
I've also fixed an issue with registration being blocked but the password reset seems to be broken, I will try to find out why.
Currently, exploring options about what to do with this site - Stormbringer, please contact me when you see this! I have been trying to reach you.

I would love to test those older remakes against my P4 1.8 - Matrox-G550 - DirectX7 Win98se. I only have about 3-5 but some do indeed work perfect. It's before these remakes got the intro-screen and only had "fullsceen y/n"
